GRANTED BY UNICEF IN BRUSSELS: CHOOSING ABDULAZIZ AL ISHAQ AS THE GLOBALLY DISTINGUISHED FIGURE IN THE FIELD OF CHILD PROTECTION

# The award was given to Al Ishaq for his overall work in the field of children's rights over 12 years in the social and media sector.

The UNICEF awarded the Globally Distinguished Figure Award in the field of child protection to Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ishaq, Acting Executive Director of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" for his overall social, media and administrative efforts in the field of child protection over the 12 years he worked in the social field.

The Organization, which is based in the capital of Belgium, Brussels, said in its statement: “in the meeting of the Board of Directors held on April 13, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al Ishaq was chosen as the most prominent figure for the UNICEF's standards due to his work for more than 12 years, his national and international efforts , his effective participation in awareness-raising, media and administrative work in the field of child protection, as well as his distinguished efforts in cooperation with international and regional organizations during the period of his management of AMAN."

The statement added: “accordingly, the Organization's Board of Directors decided to grant the UNICEF's 2022 Globally Distinguished Figure Award, in accordance with the principles adopted by the UNICEF and its international partners".

The UNICEF, a member of the United Nations Global Compact, is a platform for community development in the Arab region and for the exchange of experiences in this field, and it includes a number of national, regional and international partners.

It is worth noting that Mr. Al Ishaq worked for the past 12 years in the social and media field, as he was a program producer on Al Jazeera Children Channel, and then director of public relations at Al Owain Center, before becoming director of public relations and media at AMAN until he assumed the position of CEO of AMAN.

During these years, Mr. Al Ishaq worked with many international organizations, chaired many committees in the field of protection of children's rights, and contributed to the launch of many major childhood projects. Furthermore, he is a member of the advisory board for the childhood diploma at the Community College.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Subaie, Chairman of the Child Protection Organization, said about this award: “we congratulate Mr. Abdulaziz for this award and we look forward to it being an incentive for many officials around the world to achieve more creativity and excellence in the field of children's rights."

He added: “our Organization has been keen throughout the years of its establishment to support children's rights in all fields, and today the world is going through many crises, including COVID-19 pandemic, the continuation of political and military crises in several countries, and the spread of poverty and famine in many regions of the world, all of which is directly reflected on the children, who are the future of this world.

About winning the award, the CEO of AMAN said: “this award is the result of the work of entire teams that I had the honor to work with in various institutions and centers. It is a gift to every individual I worked with in every project related to children and childhood. Women are an integral part of any human rights work, as the successful nation-building and continuity of societies depend on real investment in the future, and women and children are the builders of the future and the basis of the present."

He added: “I have had the honor of working in the social sector, which is one of the noblest works that we offer to and in society. Today, AMAN has an unlimited support from His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari, the CEO of Qatar Social Work, and this award is the result of his great support to the Center, which contributions to the development of business, raising capabilities and achieving such achievements.

He concluded his speech by saying: “with this continuous support from Qatar Social Work, we will host next month the International Conference on Child Helplines, which will discuss many issues related to children's rights and mechanisms for helping them around the world. In addition, we prepare for the Center's presence to be distinguished during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will coincide with the World Children's Day.
